Durg Police on Monday initiated effective actions against the supply and sale of drugs in the district and arrested eight individuals from Durg-Bhilai while recovering huge quantity of banned capsules from their possession. The arrests were made from Khursipar in Bhilai and behind Manas Bhavan at Durg. Additional Superintendent of Police (urban) Sukhnandan Rathore while briefing the media persons at Police Control Room, Bhilai on Monday informed that around 2400 nos banned capsules, eight mobile phones, two motorbikes and Rs 2400 earned by the accused through sale of sedatives have been recovered by the police.
 
‘On being tipped off, a police team caught six of the accused from ITI Ground at Khursipar whereas the other two were arrested from near Ravishankar Stadium behind Manas Bhawan at Durg,’ said the officer. He stated that the arrested individuals were involved in the sale of banned sedatives in twin cities and separate cases under sections 21 (C), 8 and 27 (A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act as well as section 111 (3) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita have been registered in Khursipar and Padmanabhpur Police Stations. Those arrested by the police included Rajneesh Pandey (32) and Ranjeet Ram (29), both residents of Balaji Nagar; Vipin James (22) and Abhijeet Sahu (22), both from Rajeev Nagar; Shyam Kanhaiya Vishwakarma (22), Gautam Nagar; Arbaz Khan, Pragati Nagar, Chhaoni; Faizan Ahmed (29), Kelabadi and Sahil Kumar Yadav (18), a resident of Shikshak Nagar, Durg.
