The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has taken further action in the sensational case of the deaths of innocent children in Chhindwara due to the poisonous cough syrup Coldrif.
The team has arrested Jyoti Soni, the proprietor of Apna Medical Store. Following her arrest, she was presented before Court on Tuesday.
Since the arrest of Dr Praveen Soni, his wife, Jyoti Soni, had been absconding. After continuous raids by the SIT, she was finally taken into custody.
According to police, Jyoti Soni is accused of selling poisonous syrup from a medical store and destroying evidence.
SDO Parasia Jitendra Jat,
who is leading the SIT, stated that Jyoti Soni had been continuously trying for bail, but her bail was rejected.
Upon receiving information that the
accused had fled to Bangalore, the team intensified the search for the accused.
However, the police arrested Jyoti Soni in Parasia itself. However, it is also being claimed that the accused Jyoti had
surrendered.
In this case, seven arrests have been made so far-Ranganathan Govindan – Owner of Srisan Pharmaceuticals (Tamil Nadu), the company that manufactured the poisonous syrup, Maheshwari, a female employee of the company – involved in sample and document fraud, Dr Praveen Soni – accused of prescribing the syrup to children, Rajesh Soni – Operator of New Apna Pharma Agency, Saurabh Jain – Chemist at Apna Pharma, Satish Verma – Medical Representative (MR) of the company, and Jyoti Soni – Proprietor of Apna Medical Store.
