RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat addresses the inaugural session of five-day ‘Jeevan Utkarsh Mahotsav’ organised by BAPS

“The entire world is going through a period of crisis and is now looking towards India for guidance. The reason is our culture, which is the gift of saints. Indian culture is the only one that prays for the welfare of all,” said Dr Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Dr Bhagwat was addressing the inaugural session of five-day ‘Jeevan Utkarsh Mahotsav’ organised by the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) which was commenced in a grand and devotional atmosphere at a city hotel, on Monday. Referring to the praise extended to him by the saints, Dr Bhagwat humbly remarked, “It is the nature of saints to turn even an atom of goodness into a mountain.” Mentioning Pramukh Swami Maharaj, he said, “There is no difference between a saint and the divine. Such saints appear on earth once in many ages. Even if they are not physically among us, their subtle presence continues to inspire us. By following their teachings, we can ensure the welfare of humanity.”

Jeevan Utkarsh Mahotsav is being held in Tilhari, birthplace of Mahant Swami Maharaj, the current spiritual head of the BAPS organisation, who has dedicated his life to service, devotion and spreading values. In the morning session, Adarsh Jivan Swami conducted an inspiring discourse on Mahant Charitam. Dr Bhagwat described Pramukh Swami Maharaj as a ‘divine personality’ who devoted his entire life to human welfare and the preservation of Indian culture. “His affection was unparalleled whoever approached him received only love,” he said.

Dr Bhagwat emphasised that by following a life filled with values and good conduct, society can draw inspiration from such saints. He urged everyone to take inspiration from Mahant Swami Maharaj’s life and highlighted the importance of spirituality in nation-building. During the event, Atmatrupt Swami delivered an enlightening address on ‘Sanskriti ke Jyotirdhar Pramukh Swami Maharaj’. A book titled ‘Sant Vibhuti Pramukh Swami Maharaj’, published by the Sahitya Akademi, was also released by Dr Bhagwat and the saints. The book’s author, Bhadreshdas Swami, expressed his gratitude. Brahmavihari Swami, head of BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, also delivered an inspiring address. Senior saint Ishwarcharan Swami, global co-ordinator of BAPS’s worldwide service activities, spoke about the cultural significance of Sanskardhani Jabalpur.
