The city’s sanitation system is going to get stronger with decisive measures from the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC). Municipal Commissioner Ram Prakash Ahirwar is taking meetings and doing field inspections regularly. Accordingly, the Municipal Commissioner, on Monday, took a meeting of sanitation contractors and officials and made it clear that there will be no compromise on cleanliness. He instructed all teams to work as per the planned strategy and ensure visible results on the ground.

The Municipal Commissioner informed that sanitation issues in Divisions 1 to 4 have now been resolved. To improve the system further, total 517 sanitation supervisors have been appointed. Division 1 has been assigned to Narmada Sai Seva Samiti with 180 workers, Division 2 to Maa Narmada Seva Sanrakshak Samiti with 120, while Divisions 3 and 4 have been allotted to Ultra Clean and Care Samiti with 217 supervisors. Separate teams have also been deployed to strengthen cleaning works at Gaurighat, Tilwara, Hanumantal, vegetable markets, cremation grounds and areas around ponds.

In wards where sanitation has been found irregular, a special cleaning campaign will be conducted. Ahirwar firmly stated that negligence in maintaining sanitation will not be tolerated. He asked officials and contractors to show results through work. After reviewing sanitation arrangements, the Municipal Commissioner also assessed the status of revenue recovery. He directed officials to accelerate the collection drive by organising division-wise camps.
