President of India Droupadi Murmu will embark on a one-day visit to Ambikapur, Surguja district, on November 20, where she will be the chief guest in the Janjatiya Gaurav Divas celebrations at PG Ground. The two-day event, marking the birth anniversary of tribal icon Lord Birsa Munda, is scheduled for November 19 and 20 at the same venue, with cultural programmes and honors for competition winners. Tribal Development Minister Ramvichar Netam convened a review meeting at his official residence in Nava Raipur earlier today to assess the ongoing preparations for Janjatiya Gaurav Divas.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of Tribal Development Department Sonmoni Borah, Commissioner Dr. Saransh Mittar, Joint Secretary B. S. Rajput, Additional Director Sanjay Gaur, Programme Nodal Officer Gayatri Netam, and other senior officials. Assistant Commissioners from all Surguja division districts also participated. During the review, Minister Netam emphasized that the forthcoming celebration should be a matter of pride for the state, urging officials and staff to commence thorough and sensitive preparations. He directed the officers to incorporate tribal dances, folk arts, and music into the festivities, and to ensure that similar cultural programmes are organized in tribal ashrams and hostels across Chhattisgarh.

The Minister further instructed the organizing team to extend formal invitations to all district in-charge ministers, MLAs, MPs, and local public representatives to ensure widespread participation. Principal Secretary Sonmoni Borah informed the gathering that Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, symbolizing the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, is being observed statewide from November 1 to 15. He outlined that, as part of the celebrations, block-level camps are facilitating the creation of Aadhaar and Ayushman cards, alongside the opening of Prime Minister Jan Dhan accounts for beneficiaries. A district-level celebration will take place on November 15, featuring competitions in tribal dance and music. Winners from these events will advance to the final competition on November 19 at Ambikapur, with the overall winners to be felicitated by President Murmu during the main ceremony on November 20.
