Gaurav, Jagjot bowl Vidarbha to victory

 

 

 

THE duo of left-arm spinner Gaurav Farde and right-arm offie Jagjot Sasan hunted in pair once again in the match to bowl Vidarbha to a convincing 87 runs victory over Odisha in their four-day Elite Group B league match of the U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy at MGM School of Sports, Cuttack on Wednesday. Like in the first innings where Gaurav and Jagjot shared seven wickets in between them, the pair forged a serious bowling partnership in the second knock claiming four wickets each. Odisha resumed on 92-4 and fought hard through Om (98) and Shreyansh Bhardwaj (75) but Gaurav and Jagjot kept chipping away and bowled them out for 267.

 

In fact, both the players came good with the willow too in the match. In the first essay, when chips were down Gaurav top-scored with a responsible 30 and then in the second innings, Jagjot hit a half century complementing the centurion Abhishek Agrawal as the visitors posted a good score. Vidarbha bowlers claimed four wickets each to ensure 11 points for their team. Vidarbha now have 29 points from three matches in Group B and are one point behind Bengal leaders (30). Brief scores: Vidarbha 1st innings 166 all out in 48.2 overs (Gaurav Farde 30, Abhishek Agrawal 22, Shree Choudhary 22, Sanskar Chavate 22; Saideep Mohapatra 3-14). Odisha 1st innings 128 all out in 48.1 overs (Aashirwad Swain 39*.; Gaurav Farde 4-35, Jagjot 3-8). Vidarbha 2nd innings 316 in 108.2 overs (Abhishek Agrawal 134, Jagjot Sasan 54, Varun Bisht 39). Odisha 2nd innings 267 all out in 95.5 overs (Om 98, Shreyansh Bhardwaj 75; Gaurav Farde 4-69, Jagjot 4-54). Result: Vidarbha won by 87 runs.
