Nagpur Rural Police issue notice to Mumbai man over fake AI Tiger video

Staff Reporter :

A short 6-second clip is going viral on social media showing a man feeding liquor to a tiger and patting the animal on an empty village street. According to several posts, the video was claimed to be from Madhya Pradesh and many users wrote that the tiger had strayed from the Pench Tiger Reserve and a 52-year-old drunk labourer, named Raju Patel, mistook the tiger for a giant cat while returning home after playing cards. Some users also claimed that villagers were scared for hours and forest officers later used tranquillisers to send the tiger back to the jungle. The story made headlines on social media with people laughing and calling the man brave and crazy at the same time. However, this entire story is fake. The video is not a real footage. It is completely AI-generated. The tiger and the person in the video are not real and the incident never happened in any village.

Video creates confusion

After the video went viral, the Nagpur Rural Police took serious note of the matter because the reel was linked to the Pench Tiger Reserve in Nagpur district. Police said that the reel sent a wrong message and could damage the image of the Tiger Reserve. This could also create confusion among tourists and affect tourism. It also shows a misleading action against wild animals. According to Nagpur Rural Police, the reel was posted on October 30, 2025 from the Instagram account “aikalaakari”. Police verified that the clip was created using artificial intelligence. The reel’s connection to Pench Tiger Reserve angered wildlife lovers, and police felt it could create a law and order problem if not stopped in time.

Video generated from Mumbai

Therefore, Superintendent of Police Nagpur Rural, Dr Harssh Poddar, and Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Mhaske have issued a notice under Section 68 of the BNSS to the Instagram account holder, identified as Rahul Ravinder Nanda from Sea Garden View, Flat No 7, Santacruz (West), Mumbai. The objectionable video has now been deleted from Instagram. Nagpur Rural Police have appealed to citizens to stop sharing such fake content and have warned that action will be taken against those who create reels that defame wildlife reserves or spread misinformation.
