With signature tune of ‘Malgudi Days’, the 31st National Drama Festival of Vivechana Theatre Group, inaugurated at Tarang auditorium on Wednesday. Marking marking its Golden Jubilee year of the theatre group, Vivechana hosts an extensive eight-day cultural extravaganza.
As the celebration culminates in the group’s highly anticipated 31st National Theatre Festival, which will showcase five major national productions. The festival was inaugurated with three-day Vivechana Arts Festival, which is already concluded, and now the five-day Drama Festival was inaugurated with a bang with Swatantra Theatre, Pune, staging R.K. Narayan’s classic Malgudi Days under the direction of Abhijit Choudhary—a main attraction of the event..
Earlier, the wider Arts Festival began on November 2nd with a special event in the Late Sharat Chandra Tiwari Memorial Lecture Series.
Renowned scientist Dr. Abhitabh Pandey delivered on ‘Adam’s Journey, from Africa to Space’ , then the cultural segment continued with a performance of melodious light singing by acclaimed artist Taapsee Nagraj on November 3rd and followed by a Kathak dance presentation, “Kathak Prasanga,” by Shalini Khare and her group on November 4th.
Additionally, a painting exhibition by Awadhesh Bajpai, a book exhibition, and various arts programs is available throughout the festival period.
On Thursday, the MPSD Theatre Lab, Bhopal, will present Dario Fo’s hit play Shriman Chor (Dir: Ishtiyak Khan).
The entire festival is jointly organized by Vivechana and the Central Sports Council of MP Power Management Company Limited.
