Referring to the news item ‘Take WCL-Seminary Hills road at your own peril’ (Cityline 03.11.2025) refers to the pitiable condition of an important arterial link road between the city and Seminary Hills. There are umpteen residential localities and Government offices located on Seminary Hills. This road has maximum traffic during morning and evening rush hours.
As rightly pointed out, the two wheelers are most vulnerable to the craters on this dimly-lit stretch. Besides, some school children use this road to commute to their schools on bicycles. Such cratered roads also play havoc both with vehicle suspension and tyres alike.
The driver has to be constantly in an alert mode, as while dodging craters, he could encounter another pack of vehicles moving towards him from the oncoming side that have to be safely passed through.
The last time this road was resurfaced was some 15 plus years ago. Thereafter, makeshift pothole-filling exercises were sporadically undertaken a few times. Years of neglect and apathy have resulted in the present predicament of the road.
Post-monsoon 2025, the road’s condition has further worsened as the news item elaborates quite well.
While moving upwards from the WCL end, just after passing through the WCL residential quarters compound wall periphery, a semi-wrecked and twisted GI guard-rail stretch fitted to the left kerb side of the road presently serves no useful purpose.
It is requested that the authorities may please take note of the referred Cityline news of 3.11.2025 and this write-up to rectify the pitiable road condition and make it safer for commuters.
