Sanskardhani, on Friday joined nationwide celebration marking 150 glorious years of India’s national song Vande Mataram, with thousands of citizens, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, workers and youth took part in a collective rendition held at the historic sacrifice site of Raja Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghunath Shah at Malgodown Chowk.
The event, organised by the BJP’s
Mahanagar unit, was held in the presence of State Public Health Engineering Minister, Sampatiya Uikey as chief guest, along with District President Ratnesh Sonkar, MLA Ashok Rohani, former MLA Harendrajit Singh Babbu, Dr Jitendra Jamdar, Akhilesh Jain and several senior party leaders.
The ceremony began with lighting of lamp before the portrait of Bharat Mata, followed by floral tributes to martyrs Raja Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghunath Shah.
Addressing a huge gathering, State Minister Uikey said Vande Mataram, the immortal hymn of devotion to Mother India has inspired unity, courage and sacrifice throughout India’s freedom struggle. Penned by visionary Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, this song infused the spirit of national pride and self-respect in every
Indian heart, she said. Expressing views on the occasion,
District BJP President Ratnesh Sonkar said the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram celebrated across India on the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In Jabalpur, BJP leaders, workers gathered at the sacred site of sacrifice to pay homage to the motherland through the collective singing of Vande Mataram. Sonkar said the event reflected national pride and unity, as people sang in one voice and one rhythm, saluting the spirit of Bharat Mata.
