Storms into Telangana Int’l Challenge last-four
CONTINUING their red-hot form, Nagpur shuttler Ritika Thaker along with her Delhi partner Nitin Kumar stormed into the semi-finals to assure themselves of a medal at Telangana International Challenge under way at the Balyogi Stadium in Hyderabad, on Friday.
Ritika-Nitin played fearless badminton with aggression to defeat top seeds and world ranked 42 Athish Surya and Amrutha Prathamesh in straight games 20-22, 18-21 in the
quarter-final tie.
Playing with a plan and aggression the Nagpur-Delhi pair always maintained a slender lead and closed both the games and match in their favour.
In the pre-quarters, they faced 7th seeds Arsh Mohammad and Vaishnavi Khadkekar. Playing with a plan and executing it well, they won the first game 21-15 after Ritika-Nitin were trailing 9-11 at the interval.
Ritika and Nitin overcame Dingku Singh and Priya Konjenbum 21-17, 13-21, 21-16 in the their first round of
tournament
They will now face Ishan Bhatnagar and Aaradhna Balchandran in the semi-finals stated on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion Ritika said that they were happy with the result and they executed their plan well to win. She further said they will try their best in the semi-finals. Ritika plays at Arundhati Arun Badminton academy at Besa, Nagpur.
