The Mayor-in-Council meeting, chaired by Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh approved several significant projects aimed at improving waste management, sustainability and civic infrastructure. The proposals approved include tenders for producing reusable wooden blocks from garden waste, setting up a biogas and CNG plant using wet waste and constructing a modern slaughterhouse at Kathonda on the city’s outskirts.

Mayor Singh said all the projects will be executed on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model through scientific methods, ensuring no financial burden on the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation. He said the initiatives reflect civic body’s focus on sustainable city management and resource reuse. Alongside these approvals, the M-i-C also discussed and approved naming proposals for several city roads and squares after saints and distinguished personalities.

Accordingly, the road from Maharshi Dayanand Chowk to Maharshi Valmiki Chowk will now be named after Param Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj, following a proposal from the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha. Similarly, the road beside Chirayu Hospital will be named after Bhagwan Vishwakarma, the stretch from Footatal Chowk to Byoharji’s Bada will be called Late Shri Prabhakar Rusiya Marg and the road from Howbagh Station to Gurdwara Gorakhpur leading to Azad Chowk will be known as Guru Tegh Bahadur Marg. In addition, the square near the JDA Market on Kachnar City Road will be named Brahmarshi Saubhari Chowk.

The Mayor handed over the official approval letter for the naming of the Mahant Swami Maharaj Marg to BAPS senior member Pravinbhai Patel, adding that such steps help preserve the city’s cultural identity while promoting civic pride. The MIC meeting also deliberated on other matters of public importance concerning city development and governance.
