Lt Gen Ashok Jindal (Retd), Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Raipur, represented India as a speaker at an international medical simulation conference held in Singapore from November 5 to 7.
The global event was organised by the SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute of Medical Simulation (SIMS), in collaboration with the Society for Simulation in Europe (SESAM) and
The Gathering of Healthcare Simulation Technology Specialists (SimGHOSTS).
The theme of the conference was “Integrating Simulation; Future-proofing Practice.” Lt Gen Jindal and AIIMS Raipur faculty members conducted a 90-minute session covering various simulation-based topics. Speaking on “Simulators in Public Health,”
Lt Gen Jindal highlighted the growing importance of simulation in medical training, health system readiness, and patient safety. He described simulation as an “insurance policy” for population health, helping doctors and healthcare teams improve decision-making, coordination, and crisis management through practical, virtual, and large-scale exercises.
He also showcased the advancements of the AIIMS Raipur Simulation & Skills Lab and its collaboration with the American Heart Association (AHA).
Through this initiative, more than 10,000 people in Chhattisgarh have been trained in Hands-Only CPR using high-tech and VR-based tools.
AIIMS Raipur was further represented by Prof. (Dr.) Debendra Kumar Tripathy, Head of Trauma and Emergency, and Dr. Naman Agrawal, Assistant Professor from the same department.
Dr. Tripathy spoke about safer emergency systems through human factors engineering, while Dr. Agrawal presented interactive triage training methods that make learning more
