Due to technical errors and growing traffic congestion in all major stations of South East Central Railway (SECR), almost all the trains continue to run behind schedule from past one week, causing significant inconvenience to thousands of passengers on a daily basis.

 

The delays in local trains are testing the patience of passengers and all of these passengers are reaching their offices, universities and then home very late. They are demanding the top officials of SECR to bring the matter under control and run all of the trains on time. It is learnt that, on an average, about 120 trains including 55 local trains as well as passengers trains pass through Raipur Junction and other surrounding stations of Howrah-Mumbai line daily.

 

Sources informed all of trains particularly passenger and local trains run several minutes and hours behind the schedule on a daily basis. Commuters said that it is happening for the past one month largely due to technical issues and SECR It is affecting the entire daily schedule of many commuters who use local and passenger trains to reach Raipur from other places. “Apart from Memo local trains, now passenger trains such as 68861 Gondia-Jharsuguda Memo and 08833 Raipur to Taroki are also running late in past two weeks.

 

This delay is affecting the work schedule of many people” said Dr Nitin Bhatt, Associate Professor at Central Institute. A senior SECR officer claimed in recent times, the situation has improved to some extent with operation of some lines in this route and incidence of Bilaspur has not affected the train service, he added. In this regard, when contacted, AK Trivedi, Divisional Commercial Manager of SECR Raipur division and Public Relation Officer stated that steps are being taken to address the issue of it.
