MORE than three dozen passengers were injured when a
speeding passenger bus was overturned on Jabalpur –Dindori road
under the jurisdiction of
Khamaria police station, on
Sunday. The mishap caused panic among the passengers, following which the police from
Ranjhi and Khamaria police stations, along with the CSP, rushed
to the spot. All injured passengers were immediately shifted to
the district hospital for treatment.
According to Khamaria police,
the condition of two passengers
remains critical and they have
been referred to Medical College
for advanced medical treatment.
Khamaria police have registered
a case against the bus driver for
negligent and rash driving and
started investigation to identify and apprehend the accused
bus driver.
CSP Ranjhi Satish Sahu
informed that a green private
bus bearing registration number MP-20-PA-0914 was heading towards Dindori from
Jabalpur. As it approached the
OFK Hospital, the driver lost control due to high speed causing
the bus to veer off the road and
overturn.
Learning about the incident,
SHO of Khamaria Police Station
Sarojni Chouksey and her team
immediately reached the spot
and started a rescue operation.
The injured passengers
were first taken to the OFK
Hospital where they were
given primary treatment
and later shifted to the district hospital. During preliminary inquiry, police
found that most of the
injured passengers belong
to Kundam, Shahpura,
Dindori and Bajag areas.
CSP Sahu added that
around 20 passengers were
travelling in the bus at the
time of the accident. Their
treatment is ongoing and
efforts are being made to
collect complete details
regarding their identities,
names and addresses.
