police busted an interstate gang involved in stealing electric wires, active for the past two years in Rewa. The operation led to recovery of goods worth around Rs 50 lakh, including aluminium and copper wires, five vehicles and tools used in theft such as cutters, electric detectors, and ladders.
A total of 17 suspects have been arrested.
Investigations revealed the gang had committed 62 incidents involving theft from MP Electricity Board (MPEB) installations and solar power plants. Police coordinated with authorities in Uttar Pradesh and other districts and analysed footage from over 150 CCTV cameras. It was discovered that the gang members were previously linked to contractors in the Electricity Department and sold stolen materials to scrap dealers.
This operation has
delivered a major blow to ongoing electricity-related thefts in Rewa. In Gwalior, police swiftly solved a theft at a marriage garden in Abhinandan Vatika, Maharajpura area, where cash worth Rs 11 lakh was stolen during a wedding function.
Acting on technical analysis and tip-offs, the Crime Branch and local police arrested Santosh Sisodia, recovering Rs 7.8 lakh in cash from him.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the theft had been carried out by Shiva Sisodia and a minor, who had entrusted the stolen money to Santosh for hiding.
