A TWO-DAY technical training
program was launched on
Wednesday to enhance the
understanding and investigation
efficiency of officers and staff
posted at city police stations
regarding cybercrimes. The initiative aims to technically
empower the police force against
rapidly evolving digital threats.
The program was inaugurated by Additional Commissioner
of Police (Headquarters, Crime)
Monika Shukla. In her address,
she expressed concern over the
rising rate of cybercrimes.
She
noted that fraudsters are now
using sophisticated techniques,
leading to large-scale financial
losses for the general public, and
making the investigation of such
cases a major challenge for the
police.
Essential to be familiar with
crime nuances: Additional
Commissioner Shukla emphasized that the nature of cybercrimes is constantly changing.
Criminals are employing new
methods such as fake links, digital fraud, social media hacking,
and fraudulent apps.
She stated,
“In such a scenario, it is extremely necessary for police personnel to be technically strong.” This
training program will familiarize officers with new cyber trends,
digital forensics, online fraud
methods, social media crimes,
and all the intricacies of technical investigation.
Importance of equipment and
staying updated in investigation:DCP Crime Akhil Patel also
guided the police officers during the program. He shared
detailed information on the seriousness of cybercrime, the
changing strategies of criminals,
and the importance of technical
equipment in investigations.
Patel said that for effectively dealing with modern cybercrimes, it
is mandatory for police personnel to stay constantly updated
and understand every new pattern. During the training, expert
instructors will provide practical training to police personnel
through various modules. This
training includes crucial topics
such as methods for securing
digital evidence, analysis of
mobile and computer data,
investigation of banking fraud,
inquiry into social media-related crimes, and the correct use of
cyber laws.
It is expected that
this training will significantly
improve both the speed and
quality of cybercrime investigations.

quick action with victims:

Shailendra Singh Chauhan highlighted a crucial aspect. He stated that when a cybercrime victim approaches the police station’s cyber desk, establishing
proper communication, initiating immediate action, and starting the preliminary process is
extremely important. Chauhan
provided detailed information
on the standards for appropriate behavior towards victims and
the immediate actions to be taken at the police stations.
