Union Home Minister Cooperation Amit Shah ON Saturday addressed the closing ceremony of Bastar Olympics-2025 at Indira Priyadarshini Stadium Jagdalpur in Bastar.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of the Bastar Olympics, Union Home Minister Amit
Shah said, “We had resolved to eliminate Left Wing Extremism from the entire country before March 31, 2026. Today at the Bastar Olympics-2025, we stand on the cusp of achieving that.
”
Amit Shah said that by next year, by the time of the
Bastar Olympics-2026 in November-December, red terror would have been completely eradicated from the country including Chhattisgarh, and a Naxal-free Bastar will be progressing forward.
Amit Shah further added, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have taken a resolve to make the entire Bastar and India free from Naxalism. We must not stop here, we should rather ensure that the Bastar division comprising the seven districts of Kanker, Kondagaon, Bastar, Sukma, Bijapur, Narayanpur and Dantewada, becomes the most developed tribal division in the country by December 2030.
”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transforming Bastar into India’s most developed tribal division within five years. Speaking at the Bastar Olympics-2025 closing ceremony, he outlined comprehensive welfare measures, including houses, electricity, toilets, tap water, gas cylinders, 5 kg free food grains, and medical treatment up to 5 lakh for every resident. Shah detailed infrastructure plans such as road connectivity to every village, electricity, banking within 5 km, and a dense network of PHCs/CHCs. He announced cooperative units for processing forest produce, positioning all seven Bastar districts as top milk producers to boost tribal incomes via dairying. New industries, higher education facilities,
India’s best sports complex, and state-of-the-art hospitals are also planned. A special anti-malnutrition scheme and an attractive rehabilitation policy for surrendered Naxalites and Naxal-affected individuals will be launched, said the Union Minister. Declaring Naxalism a barrier to development like a “cobra spreading its hood” Shah vowed its complete eradication by March 31, 2026. He praised over 700 surrendered Naxalites participating in the Olympics across eight teams (one from each district plus surrendered militants), urging remaining armed Naxalites to lay down weapons, join the mainstream, and embrace rehabilitation for personal and family welfare. “Naxalism benefits no one—not fighters, tribals, or security forces. Only peace paves development’s path,
” he emphasized. Shah highlighted cultural revival, a modern recording studio for traditional songs and promotion of nearly extinct festivals overshadowed by Naxal terror.
