The Crime Branch of Bhopal Police executed a major ‘Clean Sweep’ operation across 20 states, deploying 12 teams with 50 members simultaneously to serve 385 legal notices. The campaign, which spanned 15 days, crossed diverse terrains including mountains, forests, water bodies, and deserts.
The primary objective was to serve legal notices to accused individuals absconding for years, verify their locations, and bring closure to long-pending criminal cases. The successful operation indicates that Bhopal Police is no longer restricted by state borders and has initiated actions to corner criminals at a national level.
During the mission, which covered the North, South, East, and West, the teams travelled approximately 25,000 kilometres to carry out actions in states including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Notice Tally and Verification: Out of 380 notices issued (the text provides slightly conflicting numbers, using 380 as the base for distribution), 285 notices were successfully served. 55 notices were personally handed over directly to the accused.
In 105 cases, notices were served to the accused’s family members in their absence. In 35 cases, notices were legally affixed to the houses when neither the accused nor their family members could be found. In 90 cases, verification procedures were completed at the location as addresses were found to be incorrect or the accused was no longer residing there. State-wise Notice Serving Data:
The highest number of notices were served in: Uttar Pradesh (32), West Bengal (25), Delhi (19), Jharkhand (18), Rajasthan (15), Punjab (14), Maharashtra (13), Bihar (12), Gujarat (11), and Haryana (10).
