The Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has created a new benchmark in revenue collection by depositing Rs 21.33 crore into its treasury in a single day through the National Lok Adalat. The achievement is being termed as historic and unprecedented in the JMC’s history.
The Lok Adalat was organised at the JMC’s headquarters as well as all 16 zonal offices. Thousands of taxpayers thronged the offices till late in the night to deposit pending dues and take advantage of rebate in surcharge.
Municipal Commissioner Ahirwar said the remarkable collection was achieved due to the enthusiastic participation of citizens, who came forward in large numbers to clear their pending dues. Property tax, water tax and other outstanding municipal taxes were paid during the Lok Adalat, contributing significantly to the overall revenue. He said the response reflected citizens’ sense of responsibility and commitment towards the city’s development.
Senior officials informed that the collection of Rs 21.33 crore in a single day is being regarded as a milestone and a historic record for the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation.
Expressing satisfaction over the achievement, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh said the success was the result of strong teamwork within the Municipal Corporation and positive cooperation from citizens. He praised the planning and leadership of Municipal Commissioner Ramprakash Ahirwar and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the revenue staff. Municipal Commissioner Ahirwar said the achievement was made possible through disciplined administration and implementation of citizen-friendly measures. He credited the entire revenue team and supporting staff for their hard work, dedication and coordinated efforts.
