2 meter tampering cases detected during Smart Meter Replacement drive

THE Electricity Department team detected two electricity metre tampering cases during the Smart Meter Replacement Drive in Jankinagar Area, on Monday. Under the Vijayanagar City Division, MP Poorva Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company successfully carried out a planned smart meter replacement on the SBI Feeder in the Jankinagar area. As part of this campaign, old electricity meters were removed and replaced with modern smart meters at the premises of several consumers.
 
During the meter replacement work in Jankinagar area, con sumers Madhu Dhanopia and Amit Dhanopia opposed the installation of smart meters and engaged in arguments and scuffling with company personnel. Following the incident, Executive Engineer Amit Saxena, IT Manager Amit Singh, Assistant Engineer Aditya Chaubey, Junior Engineer Priyanka Suman Verma, along with their team, reached the spot and ensured that the replacement work was carried out smoothly.
 
During a detailed inspection conducted at the time of meter replacement, tampering was detected in the electricity meters of two consumers. These includ ed Aditya Namdev, a resident of New Jagdamba Colony (IVRS No. 1871001020) and Madhu Dhanopia and Amit Dhanopia (IVRS No. 1878004965). The act of meter tampering constitutes a clear violation of the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003. Accordingly, legal action has been initiated against the con cerned consumers under the rel evant sections of the Electricity Act, 2003, as per prescribed rules and procedures.
