The main road connecting Prajapati Nagar to Transport Nagar has turned into a serious civic problem as it creates danger for commuters. The stretch near Kapsi, used daily by heavy vehicles and workers, is now covered with loose gravel and mud due to the absence of a proper asphalt surface.
The road leading towards the Maa Umiya Industrial Cooperative Society is in very poor condition. Movement of heavy container trucks and dumpers raises thick clouds of dust throughout the day.
This dust reduces visibility and settles on nearby hotels, transport offices and shops, causing inconvenience and health concerns for locals.
The situation has worsened due to multiple infrastructure works in the Pardi–Kapsi area. Construction of Nagpur Metro Phase-2 (Reach 4A) from Prajapati Nagar to Transport Nagar and NHAI flyover work on NH-53 are going on at the same time. Due to diversions and weak road surfaces, heavy traffic has damaged the remaining stretch.
The problem has gained importance after the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court took suo motu PIL of rising air pollution in the city. The court pointed out road dust and construction work as major reasons for poor air quality.
A resident stated that two-wheeler riders and workers face daily risk on this stretch. Until proper repairs and dust control measures are taken, this vital logistics road will continue to threaten public health and safety, he said.
