In a shocking incident, an indebted farmer from Nagbhid tehsil was allegedly forced to sell his kidney to repay the loan to money-lender. Brahmapuri police have arrested four money lenders. The farmer is identified as Roshan Sadashiv Kude, a resident of Minthur village in Nagbhid tehsil. Farming is his only source of income. Since he could not earn much through farming, Roshan decided to start a supplementary business. He purchased cows hoping to improve income through dairy farming.
 
He borrowed Rs 1 lakh from the money-lenders in 2021 on 40 percent interest that soared to a huge amount. According to the sources in the Police Department, one of the money-lenders suggested him to sell his kidney. Accordingly, an agent was allegedly contacted who took Roshan Kude to Kolkata and underwent a medical examination. After the examination, Roshan had surgery in Cambodia and his kidney was allegedly removed. The news of selling a kidney to repay the loan amount had gone viral in the State. Following this, the cops of Nagbhid Police Station contacted Roshan. SP Sudarshan Mummaka, informed, “We have requested Roshan to reveal information about the doctors’ details in Kolkata and places where he had gone for medical examinations. However, we went through his financial transactions and found that he borrowed had taken loan from a few money-lenders. We have arrested four persons for interrogation.”
 
SP Sudarshan, who visited Nagbhid Police Station, further stated that after registering the case, Roshan will be sent for medical examination to find out the facts. The cops will also collect the passport to check the travel history of Roshan. Bramhapuri Police have arrested four accused under section 326, 342, 387, 506, 504 of BNS and sections of money lending act, informed SP Sudarshan.
