HOURSbefore the Model Code
of Conduct (MCC) came into
force, city leaders inaugurated
infrastructure works totalling Rs
2,980 crore, hoping to impress
them ahead of the civic body
elections. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari
led the programme organised at
Satranjipura to dedicate the proj
ects to citizens, saying they are
going to transport the city and
take it to new height.
A galaxy of politicians from
ruling parties, including
Guardian Minister
Chandrashekhar Bawankule,
PWD Minister Shivendra Raje
Bhosle, MLAs Krishna Khopde,
Mohan Mate, Charansingh
Thakur, ex-legislators along with
local officials were present at the
programme.
On the occasion, 12 projects
completed by MahaRail, includ
ing 7 fly-overs, 4 subways and 3
RoB, besides dedication of 70
feet high hydraulic platform was
held. Similarly, bhoomipujanof
concretisation work of Central
Avenue was done. Also, the smart
toilets constructed were also ded
icated on the occasion. Besides,
works executed by Nagpur
Improvement Trust (NIT), about
seven, were also dedicated while
bhoomipujanfor 10 other new
projects was done.
Gadkari, in his speech, high
lighted the two important proj
ects, concretisation of Central
Avenue and widening of Old
Bhandara Road to 18 metres,
would ease the congestion in the
old city area and speed up move
ment towards Bhandara Road. He
said the infrastructure projects
are going to further ease the liv
ing standards in second capital
of the State.
The Union Minister further
informed about sanctioning Rs
3,600 crore for improvement of
Ring Road.
The funds would be
utilised for construction of
approach roads.
Earlier, Chief Minister
Devendra Fadnavis, who
addressed the gathering via video
conferencing, said Maharashtra
has over 500 level crossing and
State Government has taken a
decision to eliminate them all.
All the infrastructure projects are
going to further enhance devel
opment in Maharashtra.
Guardian Minister
Chandrashekhar Bawankule said
the projects, once completed in
next few years, are going to fur
ther enhance liveability in
Nagpur. Also, Government has
finalised Naya Nagpur project
that is going to bring big finan
cial companies here.
