The elevation of Nitin Nabin as
the Bharatiya Janata Party’s
National Executive President
marks the culmination of a sustained
organisational journey that played a
decisive role in the party’s return to
power in Chhattisgarh. As co
incharge and later full-time incharge
of the state, Nabin emerged as a key
architect of BJP’s revival, blending col
lective leadership, organisational dis
cipline and grassroots mobilisation
into a winning political strategy.
During a period when forming a
BJP government in Chhattisgarh
posed formidable challenges, Nabin
worked closely with then state
incharges D.
Purandeswari and Om
Prakash Mathur, travelling exten
sively across the state to fine-tune
electoral strategy and rebuild cadre
confidence. He served as co-incharge
from November 13, 2020 to June 18,
2024 under Purandeswari, and again
alongside Mathur from September
9, 2022 to June 18, 2024, before being
appointed full-time state incharge on
July 5, 2024.
As the party’s face of organisational
coordination in the state, Nabin left
little room for complacency. He con
sistently sharpened BJP’s attack on
the Congress government, keeping
public issues at the forefront while
ensuring seamless coordination
between the leadership and grass
roots workers.
From urban local bod
ies and panchayats to Assembly and
Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s successive
victories under his guidance reflect
ed a carefully constructed and well
executed political script.
Party insiders credit Nabin’s acces
sibility, problem-solving approach
and emphasis on collective owner
ship for strengthening worker morale.
His ability to connect with cadres
across districts helped forge a sense
of unity that translated into electoral
momentum. Campaigns such as Mor
Awas–Mor Adhikar, the Gauthan
scam agitation framed as a state
wide protest, and the innovative
pravasi karyakarta initiative became
defining features of BJP’s organisa
tional resurgence.
The results during his tenure
underline the scale of BJP’s success.
The party secured 54 of 90 Assembly
seats, won 10 of 11 Lok Sabha seats,
captured all 10 mayoral posts in
municipal corporations, and
achieved sweeping victories across
municipal councils, nagar panchay
ats, district panchayats and janpad
panchayats, consolidating its dom
inance at every tier of governance.
BJP state president Kiran Dev
described Nabin as “a leader deeply
committed to organisational growth,”
noting that his rise from a grassroots
worker to the national executive
reflects dedication and discipline.
“Every visit, every moment of his
engagement was devoted to strength
ening the organisation. His work eth
ic and planning continue to inspire
party workers,” Dev said.
Nabin’s journey in Chhattisgarh is
widely seen as a textbook example
of how sustained organisational focus
and collective leadership can trans
late into enduring political success.
