TEMPERATURES dipped across
Madhya Pradesh over the past
24 hours, with cold conditions
prevailing in most parts of the
State. The lowest minimum tem
perature was recorded at
Mandsaur at 3.7°C, followed
closely by Girvar in Shajapur
(3.8°C) and Rajgarh (4.4°C). Major
cities also felt the chill, with
Indore recording 4.9°C and
Bhopal 5.1°C as the minimum
temperature. On the warmer
side, night temperatures
remained relatively higher in
Agar/Kannod (Dewas) at 12.4°C,
Sagar at 11.5°C and
Narmadapuram at 11.3°C.
Day temperatures showed little change across the state. The
highest maximum temperature
was observed at Narmadapuram
at 30.2°C, followed by Khargone
(28.8°C) and Rajgarh and Guna
(28.6°C).
Cooler daytime conditions prevailed in Chitrakoot
(Satna), which recorded the lowest maximum temperature of
22.7°C, while Malanjkhand,
Narsinghpur, Sidhi and Rewa also
remained on the cooler side.
According to the India
Meteorological Department
(IMD), weather remained dry
across all divisions, with no rain
fall recorded anywhere in the
state during the last 24 hours.
Wind speeds remained light to
moderate, generally around 8-10
kmph, offering little relief from
the cold, especially during night
and early morning hours.
The prevailing weather over
Madhya Pradesh is being influenced by a strong Subtropical
Westerly Jet Stream, with core
wind speeds reaching up to 185
kmph at about 12.6 km above
mean sea level over north India.
In addition, a fresh and weak
Western Disturbance is likely to
affect the western Himalayan
region from December 19,
though no major change in
Madhya Pradesh’s weather pattern is expected immediately.
Bhopal experienced a cold
night with a minimum temperature of 5.1°C, which is around
4°C below normal for this time
of the year. The maximum temperature during the last 24 hours
stood at 26.6°C, close to normal.
Morning humidity levels were
high at 85 per cent, leading to
haze and shallow fog in early
hours. The sky remained mostly clear
during the day.
No rainfall was recorded. For
the next 24 hours, Bhopal and
surrounding areas are expect
ed to witness clear skies with
haze and shallow fog in the
morning, with temperatures
likely to hover around 27°C
(maximum) and 6°C (mini
mum).
Cold Wave and Fog Warnings
issued: The IMD has issued a
cold wave warning at isolated
places in Bhopal, Sehore,
Rajgarh, Indore and Shajapur
districts, while cold wave conditions were also reported in
Seoni and Mandsaur. Shallow
to moderate fog is likely at isolated places in Gwalior, Datia,
Bhind, Morena, Singrauli,
Sidhi, Rewa, Mauganj, Satna,
Panna, Chhatarpur,
Tikamgarh and Niwari districts.
Residents are advised to
remain cautious, especially
during late night and early
morning hours, as fog may significantly reduce visibility and
disrupt road, rail and air trans
port. People are urged to keep
themselves warm, limit expo
sure to cold, and follow health
and travel advisories issued by
the authorities.
