The Bhoomipujan of the lake rejuvenation programme at Khandala village was recently conducted by MLA Sameer Meghe, in the presence of Gram Panchayat representatives, National Institute of Women, Child and Youth Development (NIWCYD) Team, and local citizens.
This programme is being implemented under the project titled ‘Developing Water Secure Communities through Lake Rejuvenation Programme’.
The initiative is supported by AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited under its CSR commitment and a fund of Rs 60,00,000 was allocated for the lake beautification, implemented by the NIWCYD and OneStage (Charities Aid Foundation India).
Representatives from NIWCYD, Aditi Meshram and the Khandala Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Karishma Bhusari emphasised the importance of reviving water bodies to enhance groundwater recharge, improve environmental health, and strengthen the water security of rural communities.
