Staff Reporter :
Work at Nyay Mandir housing Sessions Court in city was disrupted on Thursday after the administration received an email claming a bomb placed in the premises. The email, as per Sadar Police, was received at 10 am.
As per the procedure, the court officials informed the police who swung into action. The email was received on the court’s email ID and mentioned that the bomb would go off anytime
in the premises located in Civil
Lines area.
A unit of Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was activated and it reached the multi-storey Nyay Mandir. Entire premises was thoroughly searched for any suspicious material.
Police Inspector Amol Deshmukh with his team was also at the spot. They met the court officials and got the copy of the email. He said, the search operation continued till 2 pm and no suspicious or explosive material was received anywhere. Thereafter the call was declared as hoax.
The entire court premises, however, remained unaffected and work continued as per the regular procedure, said Roshan Bagde, President, District Bar Association (DBA). Since the BDDS team continued with scanning each of the rooms and corner, with machines and sniffer, the crowd was little thin on Thursday compared to other working days.
Following the incident, strong police bandobast was in place as a precaution.
Adv Bagade felt that the bomb threat email might be an act of mischief as similar reports have come from Mumbai and other places.
The email at Nagpur mentioned about placing of RDX material in the building. The sender also wrote ISI and Madras Tigers.
PI Deshmukh, when contacted, said, they can’t disclose the email ID from where the email originated as the same is part of the investigations.
The cops have roped in cyber experts to trace the sender through IP address in a bid to pin down the culprit.
