AFTER the court quashed the FIR registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Herald case, the Congress party hailed it as a vic tory of truth and held protests across Chhattisgarh. As part of this, a large demon stration was organised by the Congress in Durg on Thursday, at the call of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee. The BJP office was gheraoed under the joint auspices of the District Congress Durg Rural, District Congress Durg City, and District Congress Bhilai City. Congress workers marched in a rally from the Congress office in Durg towards the BJP office.

During the protest, Congress workers broke through the first and second layers of barricades erected by the police near Shanichari Bazar and reached close to the BJP office. During this time, there was also a scuffle between police per sonnel and Congress workers. Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, former Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, for mer MLA and senior Congress leader Arun Vora, along with a large number of Congress lead ers and workers, participated in this protest. Congress leaders said that the court’s decision exposes the alleged political conspiracy hatched by Modi-Shah and the BJP.

The court, in its order, did not consider the ED’s complaint admissible, which makes it clear that this case was entirely polit ically motivated. They said that the court’s deci sion in the National Herald case is a victory for truth, the Constitution, and the ideals of Gandhi. The BJP misused investigative agencies out of political malice, attempting to defame the Congress leadership, but the court’s decision has exposed the truth. The Congress will always con tinue to fight for the protection of democracy and constitution al values, following the path of truth and non-violence of Mahatma Gandhi. This move ment by the Congress is for the protection of democracy and to uphold the dignity of constitu tional institutions.
