MEMBER of Parliament Ashish Dubey has
urged Union Railway Minister Ashwini
Vaishnaw to name Jabalpur-Raipur Intercity
Express after Acharya Shri Vidyasagar and
to introduce additional train stoppages at
Sihora Road Railway Station. During a meeting in New Delhi, Dubey submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister and held
detailed discussions on the issue. He said
members of the Jain community and residents of the region have requested that the
newly launched Train No. 11720, Jabalpur
Raipur Intercity, be renamed as Acharya Shri
Vidyasagar Intercity or Mookmati Intercity
Express, after the revered Jain saint or his
noted literary work Mookmati.
He said such
a step would be a fitting tribute to keep
Acharya Shri Vidyasagar’s legacy alive.
Dubey also pressed for halts of the Shahdol
Nagpur Express (11201/11202) and the Rewa
Itwari Express (11753/54/55/56) at Sihora
Road. He said the station serves as the main
rail link for the Sihora Assembly segment and
the tehsils of Majhauli, Dheemarkheda and
Bahoriband, benefiting daily commuters, students travelling for education, and patients seeking
medical treatment in Jabalpur
and Katni.
The Railway Minister
assured the Member of
Parliament that the demands
would be examined and
appropriate steps taken at the
earliest.
