MSEDCL’s Assistant Engineer in ACB trap in Kamptee

 

 

Sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) netted a big fish as they zeroed in on an Assistant Engineer of MSEDCL who was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Kamptee tehsil on Thursday. The trap was laid after the complainant approach the ACB reporting the bribe demand. The complainant, a trader, sought 19 kw power connection for his shop. He had submitted the demand on-line as per the process to MSEDCL.

 

The ACE, Avinash Dandekar contacted the complainant and demanded Rs 10,000 to authorise release of the sanctioned load. The MSEDCL officer, hoping to dodge the trap, tried an innovative method of bribery. Dandekar sought it on-line from the complainant. As such the complainant transferred the amount of security deposit plus the bribe of Rs 10,000 to him. A case was registered against the AE Avinash Dandekar at New Kamptee Police Station.
