THEAyodhya Nagar Police in the State capital have achieved a major breakthrough by arresting an interstate, high-tech thief with 28 cases registered against him across multiple states. The arrest has solved six burglary incidents in the Minal Residency area, with the police recovering stolen goods and cash worth approximately Rs 20 lakh. DCP Zone-2, Vivek Singh, reported that a police team led by Ayodhya Nagar Station Incharge Mahesh Lilhare arrested the accused, identified as Vijendra alias Bunty, from Indore.
 
The police seized gold and silver jewellery along with a scooter from his possession. Thief Tracked Down Using CCTV and Technology: Following an increase in break-in incidents in the area in May, the police conducted an intensive analysis of CCTV footage, which led to the identification of the criminal. After technical surveillance, the police team tracked the thief to Indore, where he was detained. During interrogation, he confessed to his crimes. Police stated that the accused would conduct detailed reconnaissance of locked houses during the day and commit burglaries at night.
 
Used Google Maps for Organised Crime: Despite dropping out of school after the fifth grade, the 46-year-old accused, Bunty, is described as ‘tech-savvy’ and operated his burglaries in an organised manner. He used Google Maps on his mobile phone to identify posh colonies for theft and precisely mark specific houses and lanes. According to the police, the accused has been active in the criminal world since childhood. A total of 28 cases, including theft, burglary, NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act), Arms Act, and related offences, are registered against him in several states, including Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. Vijendra alias Bunty was currently residing in the Amravati district of Maharashtra, where he had started a business buying and selling old vehicles as a cover-up.
