THE Jabalpur Municipal
Corporation (JMC) carried out
a major anti encroachment
drive, on Monday and cleared
the stretch from Teen Patti
Square to Chhoti Line Fatak.
The action was taken to ease traffic movement.
The anti-encroachment
squad removed a number of
illegal temporary and permanent structures built over drains
and footpaths. The illegal constructions including slabs,
strains and partition walls had
been blocking pedestrian movement and affecting drainage
during rains.
The civic body
used JCB machines to demolish the structures on the spot.
The JMC employees also seized
handcarts and makeshift stalls
set up on the main road. They
also removed temporary structures placed on left-turn.
Senior officials of the
Department informed that the
Municipal Corporation is carrying out anti-encroachment
drive continuously to ensure
smooth traffic flow. The squad
removing all illegal and temporary structures which are
placed along main roads and
over drains and nullahs.
The
employees also seizing handcarts, kiosks and other such
structures which are hindering traffic movement on main
roads.
Accordingly, the civic body
conducted a major drive on
Monday and removed a number of illegal structures from one
of the city’s busiest routes.
Earlier, senior officials conducted inspection on the route
in the morning and noticed illegal structures along the route.
Hence, they asked concerned
officials to conduct drive and
remove encroachments. Those
conducted the drive were
