ONE of the city’s most prominent
and busy stretches has been officially dedicated to Mahant
Swami Maharaj. The road from
Maharshi Dayanand Chowk
(Russel Chowk) to Maharshi
Valmiki Chowk (Income Tax
Chowk) was formally renamed
as ‘Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj
Path’ on Monday. Mayor Jagat
Bahadur Singh dedicated to public the newly named route in the
presence of saints and public
representatives.
A large number of devotees, citizens and spiritual leaders
attended the ceremony.
Speaking
on the occasion, the Mayor said
it was an honour to dedicate a
major city road to Mahant Swami
Maharaj in the presence of saints.
He said Swami Maharaj’s life
symbolised compassion and
selfless service and the newly
named path would inspire
future generations to follow
his values.
On the occasion it was
informed that a 900-kilometre torch procession began
from Swami Maharaj’s birthplace. The journey is being
viewed as a symbol of devotion and respect for his teachings and its culmination added
a spiritual dimension to the
naming ceremony.
The road linking two important chowks named after
Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati
and Maharshi Valmiki will now
carry the name of Mahant
Swami Maharaj, strengthening the city’s cultural and spiritual identity.
