ONE of the city’s most prominent and busy stretches has been officially dedicated to Mahant Swami Maharaj. The road from Maharshi Dayanand Chowk (Russel Chowk) to Maharshi Valmiki Chowk (Income Tax Chowk) was formally renamed as ‘Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj Path’ on Monday. Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh dedicated to public the newly named route in the presence of saints and public representatives. A large number of devotees, citizens and spiritual leaders attended the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said it was an honour to dedicate a major city road to Mahant Swami Maharaj in the presence of saints. He said Swami Maharaj’s life symbolised compassion and selfless service and the newly named path would inspire future generations to follow his values. On the occasion it was informed that a 900-kilometre torch procession began from Swami Maharaj’s birthplace. The journey is being viewed as a symbol of devotion and respect for his teachings and its culmination added a spiritual dimension to the naming ceremony.

The road linking two important chowks named after Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati and Maharshi Valmiki will now carry the name of Mahant Swami Maharaj, strengthening the city’s cultural and spiritual identity. Those also present on the occasion were MP Guman Singh Domar, City BJP President Ratnesh Sonkar, Mi-C members, Corporators and others
