Vidarbha eves storm into pre-quarters

 

ARYA Pongde and Aayushi Thakre shared two wickets each as Vidarbha eves demolished Bihar by five wickets in their last Elite Group A match to qualify for the pre-quarterfinal of the Under-23 Women’s T20 Trophy at Sector 16 Stadium in Chandigarh on Monday. Right-arm medium pacer Arya (2-14) and all-rounder and off-break bowler Ayushi (2-8) dominated Bihar eves to restrict them at 81 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs.

 

Harshita (30) made the most runs for Bihar. Vid eves wasted no time and smashed 83 runs at the loss of five wickets in just 17.3 overs with Riddhima Maradwar (21), Mansi Pande (15) and Prerna Randive (15*) doing most of the damage. Vidarbha finished with 16 points from five matches, same as Delhi, but were placed second in the league table on head-to-head criterion. As per the fixtures released by the BCCI, Vidarbha will face Haryana in PQF 2 on December 5. The knock-out matches have been moved from Delhi to Ahmedabad.
