The construction workers, hailing from Bihar, were hurled in air due to water pressure, said police 
 
IN one of the worst mishaps at an industry in the region, six workers engaged at under construction Avada company in Additional Butibori area were killed on Friday after a newly-fabricated water tank exploded. According to Butibori Police, the incident occurred around 11.30 am when the tank was being pressure tested by filling water. The impact of the water gushing out at great speed swept off the labourers at the spot and in the vicinity. PI Vishal Giri of Butibori Police Station said, the water pressure was quite severe and the labourers were hurled in the air. Many of them suffered blunt injuries due to fall and impact of the water pressure.
 
While eye-witnesses said, three of them died on the spot, five to six others who were still breathing were taken to a private hospital in Butibori area. Avada is constructing its mega battery and solar module plant in Additional Butibori area. Huge aluminum water tanks have been put up at the company. Water to the company is supplied from Rama Dam. Superintendent of Police, Nagpur Rural, Dr Harssh Poddar, who also rushed to the spot, said, as a matter of safety all the water tanks at the company have been emptied. They will be filled-up only after safety validation, including certificate of their fitness.
 
The mishap site wore a gory look as the bodies lay splattered around the huge water tanks even as construction at the company project came to a standstill. Entire site got wet leaving the workers dumbfounded, unable to overcome the shock. The workers at the site were from Bihar. The deceased are identified as Arvind Thakur (28), Champaran; Ashok Patel (42), Pahadpur; Ajay Paswan (26), Sudhanshu Sahani (36), both from Muzzafarpur; Bullet alias Indrajeet Paha (30), West Champaran; and Shamim Ansari (42), Muzzafarpur. Nine other workers were injured. The seriously injured workers are identified as Prakash Sahani (42) of Muzzafarpur; Anwar Ansari and Muftar Ansari. Other injured workers are Babuchand Prasad, Kushi Nagar, Uttar Pradesh; Zakir Hussain (45), Gopalganj, Bihar; Ibrahim Ansari, Gopalganj; Mayuri Turak (23), Mahal, Nagpur; Vikas Sahani (24), Muzzafarpur; and Santosh Gautam (26), Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Butibori police said, as formalities are on, registration of the FIR will be done later.
 
CM announces Rs 5 lakh to kin of each deceased 
 
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed grief over fatalities in the water tank incident in a company situated at Butibori MIDC, on Friday. In a tweet, the Chief Minister announced Rs 5 lakh to kin of each deceased as compensation from the State Government. “In continuous touch with Collector of Nagpur and coordinating with relevant authorities,” tweeted the Chief Minister. The company, Avada, also has announced a compensation of Rs 30 lakh to kin on each deceased. It will also provide Rs 10 lakh to the workers injured in the incident, and bear all the medical expenses.
