Staff Reporter:
RISING fog combined with
intensifying cold wave conditions continued to affect large
parts of Madhya Pradesh during
the last 24 hours. Very dense to
dense fog was reported from several districts during late night
and early morning hours, significantly reducing visibility and
impacting normal movement.
Along with fog, cold wave and
cold day conditions prevailed at
isolated places, indicating firm
grip of winter over the State. Shahdol district remained
coldest in Madhya Pradesh, withKalyanpur recording lowest minimum temperature of 3.4°C. This
marks continuation of Shahdol’s
trend of recording lowest temperature in the State during the
current cold spell. Other places
with very low night temperature
included Umaria (4.7°C),
Pachmarhi (4.8°C), Khajuraho
(6.0°C) and Malanjkhand (6.1°C).
Minimum temperature showed Pradesh.
Night temperatures remained below nor
mal by 2.7 to 1.6°C in Bhopal and Jabalpur divisions, while Chambal division recorded above-nor
mal minimum temperatures by about 1.7°C.
Minimum temperatures in the remaining divisions stayed close to normal levels.
Day temperature rose appreciably by about 2.6°C
in districts of Shahdol division, while no signifi
cant change was observed in other divisions. Despite
this rise, maximum temperatures remained well
below normal in Rewa division by about 4.1°C and
below normal in Shahdol division by around 2.1°C.
The lowest maximum temperatures were record
ed at Morena (15.9°C), Chitrakoot (18.8°C), Gwalior
(19.2°C), Sidhi (19.6°C) and Rewa (21.4°C). The
highest maximum temperature of 28.4°C was
observed at Guna, Narmadapuram, Rajgarh and
Talun in Barwani district.
Weather conditions
remained dry across the entire state, with no rain
fall recorded in any district during the past 24 hours.
Winds were generally light to moderate, with speeds
around 8 to 10 kmph, which favored the persistence of fog, especially during early morning hours.
Likewise, cold wave conditions prevailed inShahdol and Seoni districts, while cold day conditions were observed in Narsinghpur and Gwalior
districts. Very dense fog was reported from Rewa,
Satna, Gwalior and Khajuraho (Chhatarpur). Dense
fog occurred at isolated places over Datia, Bhind,
Singrauli, Sidhi, Rewa, Mauganj, Satna, Panna,
Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and Niwari districts, while
moderate fog was reported at isolated places in
Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Shahdol, Umaria, Katni,
Jabalpur, Damoh, Sagar and Maihar.
The prevailing weather over Madhya Pradesh is
being influenced by a Western Disturbance, which
is present as a trough in the middle and upper tropospheric westerlies. Additionally, a strong Sub
Tropical Westerly Jet Stream, with core wind speeds
of about 120 knots, continues to prevail over north
west India. These synoptic conditions are supporting
the inflow of cold air and the formation of fog,
leading to lower night temperatures and subdued
day temperatures across the State.
Weather conditions in Bhopal
Bhopal city experienced partly cloudy skies with
dry weather conditions.
The maximum temperature recorded was 25.3°C, slightly below normal,
while the minimum temperature dropped to 6.8°C,
which is below normal. At 8:30 AM, the temperature stood at 13.0°C with relative humidity of 85
percent, indicating a cold and humid morning. Light
winds prevailed, and fog was
observed in nearby areas
during early morning hours.
Warnings & advisory
Cold wave and cold day
conditions are likely to continue at isolated places over
parts of the state, particularly in Seoni, Narsinghpur,Shahdol and Gwalior districts. Dense to very dense
fog may persist during late
night and early morning
hours, leading to poor visibility and possible disruption of road, rail and air
transport. People are
advised to avoid unnecessary travel during foggy conditions, drive slowly using fog
lights, and wear adequate
warm clothing to protect
against extreme cold.
