RAIPUR, Dec 21
LEADER of Opposition in
Chhattisgarh
Legislative
Assembly Dr Charandas Mahant
has written a letter to Chief
Minister Vishnu Deo Sai,
demanding immediate intervention in the case of death of a
worker from Chhattisgarh in
Kerala due to mob lynching and
providing justice and compensation to the victim’s family.
In the letter, Dr Mahant men tioned that in a heart-wrenching and inhuman incident that
took place in Palakkad district of
Kerala state Ramnarayan Baghel,
a worker and resident of Sakti district of Chhattisgarh, was allegedly brutally murdered by mob
lynching on the basis of mere
suspicion.
This incident is not
only a shame on humanity but
also raises serious questions on
the security arrangements for
migrant workers working across
the country, he added.More than 80 serious injuries were found on the body of
the deceased, Ramnarayan Baghel, which clearly demonstrates the gravity of this crime. Therefore, swift, impartial, and strict action should be taken in this case. The
Chhattisgarh government should immediately coordinate
with the Kerala government and intervene at a high level
so that the culprits are given the harshest punishment and
legal action should be taken against them.
Mahant said
that all necessary arrangements should be made by the
state government to bring the mortal remains of the
deceased to Chhattisgarh as soon as possible and with all
due respect, so that the victim’s family can perform the last
rites. The victim’s family is currently going through a deep
mental, social and economic crisis, he added.
