Jabalpur Rly Divn team’s prompt assistnce helps pregnant woman safely deliver baby on platform

ANOTHER commendable example of Indian Railways’ con tinuous commitment to pas senger safety, assistance, and humanitarian service was witnessed at Jabalpur Railway Division. Prompt action of rail way authority helps a pregnant woman in safe delivery of baby on platform after alighting her from moving train, on Sunday. On December 21, based on information received through ‘Rail Madad 139’, the Jabalpur Division acted promptly with coordinated and sensitive action to provide timely medical assis tance to a pregnant woman. A woman passenger traveling in Train No. 19051 Valsad–Muzaffarpur Shramik Express suddenly developed severe labour pains.
 
During the medical call, the woman alight ed with her family from the rear general coach at Jabalpur Railway Station. Immediately upon receiving the information, Sub Station Manager (Commercial) Balwant promptly informed the Railway Hospital. Responding without delay, Railway Medical Officer Dr Sanjay, along with Nurse Laxmi Garhwal and Sapna Rajak reached Platform No. 2 with nec essary medical equipment. Dr Sanjay successfully conducted a safe delivery on the platform itself and the woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy. After the delivery, both the moth er and the newborn were pro vided immediate post-delivery and neonatal care. Subsequently, they were shifted via Railway Ambulance to Rani Durgavati Hospital, Jabalpur, for further medical care.
 
Now, both the mother and the newborn are completely healthy. The woman passenger has been identified as Najni Khatoon, a resident of village Jhapa, district Sitamarhi, Bihar. This incident highlights the effectiveness of the ‘Rail Madad 139’ system and reflects the promptness, co-ordination and humanitarian sensitivity of the officers and staff of the Jabalpur Railway Division. Through this dedicated and exemplary action, Jabalpur Railway Division has once again reaffirmed its unwavering com mitment to ensuring the safety, assistance and service of pas sengers as its highest priority.
