SAGAR district administration
is carrying out a major drive to
demolish dilapidated school
buildings and other unsafe
structures to make way for new
constructions. Over 300 build
ings have already been demol
ished as part of this initiative.
Collector Sandeep G.R. had
directed during a recent review
meeting with school education
officials that no school or oth
er building in the district should
remain in a damaged or unsafe
condition. He instructed that
all such structures must be
demolished within two days to
ensure the safety of students
and the public.
Following these instructions,
demolition work is being car
ried out on a war-footing, with
over 50 school and other buildings demolished in a single day.
The Collector emphasised that
no school should function in a
damaged or unsafe building,
and officials from the education, revenue, and urban development departments, along
with school principals, must
ensure that unsafe buildings
are immediately taken down.
He also warned that in case
of any incidents, the responsi
ble authorities, school man
agement, and property owners
will be held accountable. After
demolition, school principals
must submit a certificate of
demolition to the block education officer, who will then
report to the district education
officer.
Demolition work has been
carried out in areas including
Sagar, Rahli, Khurai, Rahatgarh,
Malthon, and Dewari. Within
municipal limits, several unsafe
buildings identified by the
municipal corporation are also
being demolished. Similar actions are under
way across all urban local bod
ies in the district.
