A MAJOR fire erupted in the store
room of a hotel, located in the
Bhadbhada area opposite SairSapata, on Monday morning. The
blaze, which spread rapidly,
reduced tent material, linens,
and upholstery stored in the
room to ashes. The incident triggered panic within the hotel
premises as thick plumes of
smoke were visible from the
Bhadbhada Bridge.
According to eyewitnesses and
hotel staff, the fire started around
a generator unit located in the
front section of the hotel compound. A suspected short circuit
in the generator ignited nearby
combustible materials, including decorative tent supplies and
bedsheets
.
Within minutes, the
flames rose nearly 10 feet high,
engulfing the entire storage
structure. Fire tenders from Mata
Mandir and neighbouring fire
stations were immediately dispatched to the scene. Municipal
corporation officials and local
police also arrived to co-ordinate the rescue efforts.
Firefighters, supported by the
hotel’s internal safety team, battled the blaze for nearly 90 minutes to ensure the fire did not
spread to the primary hotel building, which was situated approximately 50 meters away.
At the time of the incident,
several guests were staying at the
hotel. However, due to the distance
between the store room and
the main residential wings, no casualties or injuries were reporte. “The situation was brought
under control before it could
escalate. The safety of our guests
remained our top priority,” stated an official involved in the
operation. While the fire did not
cause structural damage to the
main hotel, the loss of inventor
is estimated to be in the lakhs.
Police have registered a case and
are investigating the exact cause
of the short circuit and checking
if all fire safety protocols were
functional at the site.
