recipient Vinod Kumar Shukla
(88 years) is currently admitted
in the Critical Care Unit (CCU)
at the All India Institute of
Medical Sciences
(AIIMS), Raipur.
Shukla is suf
fering from severe
respiratory illness
and is a known
case of interstitial
lung disease
(ILD), along with multiple co
morbid conditions including
type-2 diabetes mellitus and
hypertension. He is presently
being treated for severe pneu
monia, complicated by pleural
effusion and systemic infection.
He is also receiving treatment for
oral candidiasis. His condition is
extremely critical
At present, Shukla is on
advanced life-support measures,
including mechanical ventilatory support, and is being managed
with multiple ionotropic med
ications to maintain blood pressure.
His condition remains crit
ical, and organ functions are
being closely monitored. Urine
output is currently minimal, and
dialysis (CRFT) has been start
ed since yesterday.
His vital parameters are under
continuous observation, and
oxygen levels are being main
tained with ventilatory assis
tance. A senior multidisciplinary
team comprising specialists from
Critical Care Medicine,
Pulmonology, Medicine,
Cardiology, Nephrology, and
Infectious Diseases is actively
involved in his management. The
team is led by Dr. Vinay R Pandit,
HoD Department of General
Medicine and Dr. Subrata Kumar
Singha, HoD Department of
Anaesthesiology. The medical
team at AIIMS Raipur is making
all possible efforts to stabilise his
condition and provide the best
possible care.
