The city is gearing up for a vibrant and spiritually uplifting Christmas, with churches across the city preparing to welcome thousands of devotees. Decorations, carols and community gatherings will set the tone as Christian families ready themselves for the celebrations.
According to Nelson Francis, a devout Christian, The Saint Francis Cathedral, the mother church of the diocese, is expected to draw the largest crowds, while prominent churches such as St Martin Church, Martin Nagar, St Anthony Church, Ajni, Saint Payas Church, Mankapur, John Paul Hazari Church, Mary Immaculate Church, Pallotti Nagar, and the Holy Family Church are all completing preparations for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services.
Families will attend the solemn Christmas Mass, during which clergy will deliver a sermon on the birth of Jesus Christ, reflecting on love, compassion and peace. Smaller churches are likely to hold one or two Masses, whereas the larger parishes plan up to four services to accommodate worshippers stated Emmanuel Rao a Christian brother. Holy Communion will follow, with prayers and offertory rites marking the sacred moment. Afterwards, people will greet one another, exchange blessings, and visit the homes of friends and relatives, an enduring tradition that strengthens bonds within the community.
Adding festive excitement, Santa Claus is expected to make cheerful appearances across several parishes, handing out chocolates and spreading joy among children.
With faith, fellowship and festive anticipation in the air, city is all set to welcome Christmas with warmth and celebration.
