Draft electoral rolls published

THE Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday published the draft electoral rolls in Chhattisgarh under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 exercise, marking a crucial step in updating and rationalising State’s voter database ahead of future elections. Speaking to ‘The Hitavada’, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Chhattisgarh Yashwant Kumar said the enumeration forms were received from 1,84,95,920 electors across the State during the revision drive. The exercise revealed that 6,42,234 voters were deceased, 19,13,540 voters were found shifted or absent, and 1,79,043 voters had their names registered at more than one location.
 
He explained that these voters could not be traced by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during field verification or failed to return the enumeration forms. Before The revision, Chhattisgarh, had a total of 2,12,30,737 registered voters, underscoring the scale of correction achieved through the intensive exercise. The CEO said the claims and The objections process will remain open from December 23, 2025, to January 22, 2026, during which voters can apply for inclusion, deletion, or correction of entries in the draft rolls.
 
Verification and hearings on claims and objections will be conducted until February 14, 2026, and the final Electoral rolls will be published on February 21, 2026. Yashwant Kumar reassured voters that genuine electors Whose names do not appear in the draft rolls need not panic. “Eligible voters can still be added during the claims and objections phase,” he said, adding that Form-6, along with The required supporting documents must be submitted for inclusion.
 
He further stated that booth-wise printed and Digital copies of the draft electoral rolls have been shared with all recognised political parties, and are also available on the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Chhattisgarh (https://ceochhattisgarh.nic.in). Appealing to The public, the CEO urged citizens to carefully verify their names and personal details in the draft rolls and raise objections within the prescribed timeframe if discrepancies are found. “The Election Commission is committed to a transparent, participative and inclusive electoral roll revision process to ensure that no eligible voter is left out and No ineligible name remains on the rolls,” he added.
