V-C Dr Manali Kshirsagar assures to furnish details
Status of some lands owned by Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University is not updated by the officials concerned. Taking serious cognisance of the same, Vice-Chancellor Dr Manali Kshirsagar asked Estate Officer to compile the details and furnish their status. Senate Member Adv Manmohan Bajpayee raised the issue in the Senate meeting.
The issue of land owned by RTMNU was first raised by the then Senate Member, now President of Maharashtra Association of Social Work Education (MASWE). It made the university come out of deep slumber. Now, Adv Bajpayee brought it to the notice of the university that there are some lands which are either encroached upon or being used for the purpose other than education or at some places, the tenants are living.
There is a house near Ahilya Mandir in Dhantoli where people are living.
The house is owned by RTMNU. Similarly, a land behind Hotel Tuli Imperial also belongs to RTMNU, but Estate Officer is oblivious of its ownership. Similarly the 10-acre land at Kanhan where a school
is being run by a private owner is being run without its lease being renewed. There are quarters behind Subhedar Hall which are yet not vacated. The premises where Bahinabai Laxminarayan, wife of Raobahadur D Laxminarayan, who donated his huge property to Nagpur University, stayed is ‘occupied’ allegedly by two families. Raobahadur D Laxminarayan had donated his property worth crores of rupees (hundreds of acres) to Nagpur University.
At the same time, with a thought that his wife Bahinabai should not suffer, he had constructed a bungalow in area of 2,000 sq ft for her in 1923. The bungalow is the part of property, which is divided in three parts-- one has the Nagpur Regional office of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), second part has the office of Estate Officer of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) and third part is occupied by two families.
NMC creates dumping yard at RTMNU land
About 40-acre land, owned by RTMNU, near its new campus where a large slum is erected. A piece of land adjacent to it was planned by the former MLC Prakash Gajbhiye for skating purposes. He failed to succeed after The Hitavada raised the issue. The half-constructed rink remained there for long time. Recently, Nagpur Municipal Corporation has created dumping yard there where the vehicles come after garbage collection and dump it here. Adv Bajpayee pointed out it and sought reply from University as to what steps it would take to remove the dumping yard. He also suggested the university to do some plan for the land. According to Bajpayee, since University has to give a huge part of its land to Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University (LITU), it must plan to vacate its own premises encroached by others.
