CELEBRATING the birth anniver
sary of the former Prime Minister
of India, late Chaudhary Charan
Singh, the Directorate of Weed
Research (ICAR) successfully
organised Kisan Diwas 2025 at
the Directorate of Weed Research
on Tuesday.
It may be mentioned that Kisan
Diwas is celebrated across the
country on December 23, mark
ing the birth anniversary of for
mer Prime Minister, Chaudhary
Charan Singh. Farmers from Khukham and
Panagar regions participated
enthusiastically.
Union Minister
of Agriculture and Farmers'
Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chauhan,
addressed farmers from across
the country virtually.
Dr J S Mishra, Director, DWR,
while wishing the farmers,
expressed his gratitude for their
contribution to India’s food secu
rity and economy.
Dr P K Singh, Principal
Scientist, discussed the specifics
of the VB-G Ram G Bill in detail
and informed farmers about its
benefits by distributing a related pamplet. Farmers were informed about
the bill’s key points, including
water security, rural infrastructure, livelihood-related employ
ment and mitigating crop losses due to weather. Literature on advanced agriculture and weed management
was also distributed.
At the outset, Dr P K Mukherjee,
Principal Scientist, appreciated
the contribution of farmers to
national development and
Indian economy and thanked
them. The farmers were also pro
vided information on natural
farming by Dr K K Barman,
Principal Scientist, DWR. A total of 206 farmers from
Umaria Chobe, Baroda,
Khukham, Ranipur and Padariya,
were present. The program was
conducted by Dr. Yogita Gharde,
Senior Scientist.
