A Christmas night party at Dabo Club ended in murder early Friday morning after a clash between two groups. The clash spiralled into a violent attack, leaving one man dead and another battling for his life. The incident took place around 4 am near Pride Square, close to the club, within the limits of Sonegaon Police Station. Police said that both groups were inside the club but arrived at different times.
 
The victims and their friends reached Dabo around 11.30 pm on Thursday, while the other group entered close to midnight. Trouble reportedly began inside the club when one of the accused identified as Mehul Rahate allegedly asked for the phone number of a woman who was with the victims. The woman came from Mumbai for the party. The remark triggered a heated argument. Although the situation appeared to settle briefly, tensions flared up again once the groups stepped outside, said police. Fight starts in Club According to the police, a verbal altercation broke out near the tables inside the club around 2.30 am.
 
The argument soon spilled out onto the street and escalated into a full-blown fight. Around 4.20 am, near an XUV 700 parked close to Pride Square, members of the accused group allegedly picked up sharp-edged weapons, iron rods and bricks and launched a brutal attack on the victims, said police. During the assault, Somya Deshmukh and Mehul Rahate and their accomplices allegedly attacked Pranay Naresh Nannavare (28), a resident of Sachin Pohewala area in Mahal, and Gaurav Brijlal Karda (34), who lived at Devyog Apartment near Chikhli Deepti Signal on Kalamna Road. Both men suffered serious injuries, especially to the rib area. Eyewitnesses told police the attack was sudden and intense, with several people joining in.
 
Friends and bystanders rushed the injured men to Orange City Hospital. However, Nannavare succumbed to his injuries during treatment and was declared dead by doctors. Karda remains in the ICU, where his condition is reported to be critical but stable. Nine accused launched attack Preliminary investigations suggest that six to nine people were involved in the attack. Confirming the case, Senior Police Inspector Nitin Magar of Sonegaon Police Station said offences of murder and attempt to murder have been registered, and multiple police teams are working to trace and arrest all the accused.
 
The police have launched search to nab accused and suspects including Somya Deshmukh (25) of Mankapur; Rohit Shembekar (23) from Hudkeshwar; Mehul Rahate (26) of Shanti Nagar; and Kamptee residents Raju Chawla (24), Rohit Yadav (27), Anuj Yadav (25) and Tushar Nankani (27). Two others, Rishi Sharma and Abhay Jamthani, were also present at the scene, and police are examining their role in the incident.
 
Accused from Mankapur, Kamptee Police officials said some of the accusedhad come from Kamptee, while Deshmukh reportedly joined the group from the LIC Chowk area. Investigators are also piecing together the movements of the accused between 1 am and 3.30 am, when they were allegedly seen loitering near the club and surrounding localities. Meanwhile, a spot panchnama is underway, and CCTV footage from Dabo Club and nearby areas is being scrutinised to establish the exact sequence of events. Statements of eyewitnesses, club staff and friends of the victims are also being recorded. Further investigation is in progress to establish roles and recover the weapons used, Police Inspector Magar said.
