Dabo Club closed for 45 days after murder

 

 

 

 

The City police have ordered the owners of Dabo Club and Kitchen to shut down the establishment for the next 45 days after a brutal murder outside the club on Wardha Road, on Saturday. The shocking murder has exposed safety, crowd control, and oversight at the club which is jointly owned by Devyani Vijay Wadettiwar, Karan Vikram Thakkar, and Mohd Hamja Rayeen.

 

The police investigation exposed serious lapses in security and management of the club. Following a detailed investigation, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Rishikesh Reddy has ordered the closure of the Club for 45 days for violating multiple rules and safety norms. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday during a Christmas party at the club, which was reportedly overcrowded. What began as a minor argument inside the Club soon turned deadly. According to police, a dispute broke out after a young man allegedly asked for a girl’s phone number who arrived from Mumbai for a night.

 

The situation worsened when the men involved stepped outside the Club, where eight persons attacked two youths. During the violent assault, Pranay Naresh Nannavare (28), a resident of Mahal, was brutally beaten and killed. His friend, Gaurav Brijlal Karda (34), a resident of Chikhli, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment. The incident sent shockwaves across the city and raised serious concerns about safety at nightlife spots. As per rules, identity cards must be checked before allowing entry, but it was found that only one of the accused had his ID verified. Despite the argument breaking out inside the Club over asking for the girl’s phone number, the security guards failed to intervene or defuse the situation in time.

 

The investigation also revealed that only nine bouncers were deployed for the large crowd present during the Christmas celebration. Of them, four were stationed outside the Club, leaving just five to manage the overcrowded premises. Police also stated that it was impossible for such a small security team to control the huge number of customers, leading to chaos and unchecked violence. Considering these serious lapses, the police concluded that Dabo Club had violated several rules and conditions laid down by the police. As a result, he issued orders to shut down the Club for 45 days, starting Saturday.

 

Accused remanded to police custody On Saturday afternoon, police produced the arrested accused before the court. They include Mehul alias Monu Gopal Rahate (27) of Loha Oli, Itwari; Rishi alias Gappu Sharma (23) of Kathwali, Kamptee; Abhay Ramesh Zamtani (22); Tushar alias Honey Anil Nankani (25) of Daal Oli, Itwari; Rajiv Anil Chawla (23) of Parwar Oli; and Saumya Deshmukh. Police sought their custody to probe further into the case, including the involvement of other accused, the motive behind the crime, recovery of weapons and whether anyone helped them escape. The court remanded all six accused to police custody till January 1.
