Food adulteration cases: Additional Collector’s court imposes Rs 1 lakh fine

In six cases of food adulteration and selling food items without a license, the Additional Collector’s court has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the accused food business operators and warned that their licenses will be suspended if the fine is not paid within one month.
 
Food Safety Officer Devendra Kumar Dubey said that under the campaign launched to prevent food adulteration, as per the instructions of Collector Mr. Raghavendra Singh, the adjudicating officer and Additional Collector of Jabalpur, Nathuram Gond, has passed orders in six separate cases filed by food safety officers regarding food adulteration and the sale of food items without registration or license, imposing a total fine of
 
Rs. 1 lakh. In these cases, a fine of Rs. 25,000 has been imposed on the owner of Kesharwani Samosa Center at Teen Patti Chowk for selling substandard samosas. Similarly, a fine of Rs. 20,000 has been imposed on Suresh Kirana at Byoharbaug for selling substandard bread, and a fine of Rs. 15,000 on Ashok Kirana at Sadar Bazar Lane No. 14 for selling substandard turmeric powder.
 
Furthermore, a fine of Rs. 20,000 has been imposed on Hanif Bhai & Company at Raddi Chowki for operating without a food license, Rs. 10,000 on Nema Ji Enterprises at Vijay Nagar Chaupati for operating without food registration, and Rs. 10,000 on Parul Marketing & Agency at Sneh Nagar for operating without registration. The adjudicating officer has clarified in his order that if the accused do not pay the fine amount within one month, the food license or registration of the respective establishments will be suspended.
