Raghavendra Singh chaired the
standing committee meeting
with representatives of recognised political parties, on
Tuesday. During the meeting,
representatives of recognised
political parties were informed
about the revised schedule for
the Special Intensive Revision
(SIR) of the electoral roll.
The District Election Officer
informed that the Election
Commission of India has extended the relevant dates for SIR by
one week and issued a revised
timeline.
As per the new schedule, enumeration period will now
continue until December 11,
rationalisation of polling stations
will also be completed by
December 11, updating the control table and preparation of the
draft roll will be carried out from
December 12 to 15, draft publication of the voter list will be
released on December 16, period for filing claims and objections will be from December 16
to January 15, 2026.
Besides this, disposal of claims/
objections and decisions on enumeration forms will take place
from December 16 to February
7, 2026 while deadline for the
Commission’s approval for scrutiny of voter list standards and final
publication is February 10, 2026
and final voter list will be published on 14 February 2026.
Providing details of the rationalisation of polling stations,
District Election Officer said that
the number of polling stations
in the district earlier was 2,154,
which has now increased to 2,320
as approved by the ECI.
The 166
newly proposed polling stations
include Patan constituency 29,
Bargi 18, Jabalpur East 41,
Jabalpur North 7, Jabalpur Cantt
13, Jabalpur West 13, Panagar 29
and Sihora 16. The meeting
was attended by Shankar
Shrivastava and Abhay Singh
from the Bharatiya Janata
Party, Sanjay Yadav and Firoz
Thakre from Indian National
Congress and Lakhan Ahirwar
and Omprakash Patel from the
Bahujan Samaj Party. Deputy
District Election Officer Jyoti
Paraste was also present in the
meeting.
